NRCS Solicits Comments on Proposed Changes to Technical Note 430-SS-11, Acid Sulfate Soils in the Coastal and Subaqueous Environment

Action Required By:  November 15, 2022

Revisions to TN 430-SS-11 include:

  • Updating the “Purpose” section of the technical note
  • Clarifying and defining the formation of acid sulfate soil materials in the “Acid Sulfate Soils” section
  • Adding information on thin layer placement in the “Locations” section
  • Updating the “Impacts” section to clarify impacts of potential and active acid sulfate soil materials
  • Updating the “Impacts” section to remove incorrectly referenced materials
  • Adding hyposulfidic materials terminology and definition in the “Identification” section
  • Adding instructions on testing for sulfides in soil materials in the “Identification” section
