With harvest time just around the corner, many of you will soon be busy in the fields, but perhaps you can get away now to enjoy the State Fair. Many of our youth get the opportunity to bring their projects and livestock to the State Fair which they have worked so hard on to get there. It is fun to see how proud they are of their achievements. Good luck to all that are going this year! While some go to the State Fair, we will still be here at the office available to serve you for any needs you may have. Please make note however, that on Thursday, September 1st, service will be limited that day. So please call for an appointment to ensure we will be able to meet your needs. All other days will be business as usual.
2022 Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) Premiums: Dairy producers have received a letter in the mail with a payment deadline reminder and the amount of outstanding premium balance due. Premiums are due by September 1, 2022. Some have called and questioned if this is true and while producers were provided an option to deduct their annual DMC premium indemnity payments issued in 2022, no payments have triggered yet this year, therefore leaving a balance owing for your premium.
ARC/PLC: You may receive communication from our office about signing new ARC/PLC contracts that were timely enrolled by March 15, 2022. Several reasons may be causing the need for a new contract including share changes in cropland, ownership changes, and operator changes. Please respond promptly to these requests to maintain your enrollment in ARC/PLC as the deadline to complete the required updates is September 30, 2022.
Maintaining CRP and Mid-Contract Management: Now is the time to be inspecting your CRP acreage and preparing to complete required maintenance. If you have completed a new seeding or Mid-Contract management practice, please submit your expenses for reimbursement. All producers with scheduled CRP Mid-Contract Management (MCM) are reminded to report completion of required management activities to FSA. CRP maintenance is necessary to maintain cover and more importantly control undesirable weeks and volunteer woody vegetation from encroachment. Failure to maintain CRP can result in non-compliance with possible payment reduction or termination. Act now to check and maintain your CRP.
Farm Record Changes: As a reminder if you have any farm changes such as purchasing new land, please notify the FSA office of your purchase or any changes to your existing farm ownership name, such as creating a trust or LLC. This is extremely important to help keep our records correct in the office and the paperwork we provide to you accurate.
Stay Informed: Text message alerts are available from FSA while on-the-go, in the field, or on the tractor. Subscribe to text message alerts to receive timely updates on: Deadline reminders, program notifications, reporting requirements and local outreach events. To sign up type: 372-669 in the recipient box and in the message box type: MNWabasha.
