New financial assistance, easements data dashboards now available

Farmers.gov dashboards provide data for USDA’s NRCS

NASHVILLE, August 26, 2022 - USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) offers financial assistance programs that deliver voluntary conservation practices across the Nation’s working lands. NRCS conservation easement programs help landowners, local and State governments, and partners maintain and protect land for agricultural or environmental benefits over time. New data dashboards, published in August 2022, publicly share data on both NRCS financial assistance programs and easements programs. Data in both sets of dashboards will be updated quarterly. Complimentary data on practices applied and acres receiving conservation are available on the RCA Data Viewer.

These dashboards work on any modern web browser and are mobile responsive, making it easier than ever to access the data you may need. Data downloads are available, with security safeguards in place to protect the confidentiality of program participants. Learn more below, and please contact the NRCS Open Data Team, nrcs.opendata@usda.gov, with questions.

Financial Assistance Programs Data Dashboards

The new NRCS financial assistance programs data dashboards provide key metrics for NRCS’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program, Conservation Stewardship Program, Regional Conservation Partnership Program, and other working land financial assistance programs in clear, easy-to-interpret charts and maps.

Data are available across fiscal year at national, State, county, congressional district, and hydrologic unit code scales and are filterable by programs, practice types, contract status, and across various producer types. You may view data by contract count, total treated acres, and dollars obligated.

Easement Programs Data Dashboards

The new NRCS easement programs data dashboards offer an overview of NRCS’s Agricultural Conservation Easement Program, Healthy Forests Reserve Program, and former NRCS easement programs such as the Grasslands Reserve Program. Easement data are available across fiscal year at the national and State levels.

You may view data for easement acquisitions – the time from program enrollment to easement creation – or easement restoration. Data are filterable by various categories, including easement count and acres, fiscal year, easement program, and geographic location. Additionally, you may view data by easement conservation purpose, including agricultural, forest, floodplain, grasslands, or wetlands.
