With the high amount of prevent plant acres, producers enrolled in the ARCPLC are reminded of the requirement to control weeds and prevent wind and water erosion on all acres of participating farms. FSA has a list of locally approved covers and practices that meet this requirement. The list includes crop residue from mechanical and chem fallow, solid seeding approved cover crops, volunteer cover and flax strips. Failure to do complete proper maintenance could result in complete loss of ARCPLC benefits.

Participants must control undesirable vegetation, weeds (including noxious weeds), insects and rodents that may pose a threat to existing cover or adversely impact other landowners in the area.
All CRP weed control activities must be conducted outside the Primary Nesting Season (PNS), which, for North Dakota, is April 15 through August 1. Spot treatment of the acreage may be allowed during the PNS if, left untreated, the weeds, insects or undesirable species would adversely impact the approved cover. Spot treatments are limited to the affected areas in the field and requires County Committee approval prior to beginning the spot treatment.
Annual mowing of CRP for generic weed control, or for cosmetic purposes, is prohibited at all times.

For Fiscal Year 2022 only, CRP participants with contracts expiring September 30, 2022 may request voluntary termination of contract acres and FSA will waive the refunds. To be eligible for the refunds, the termination must be effective after the 2022 Primary Nesting Season (PNS) or beginning August 2. The request for termination must be in writing and signed by all contract participants. Contact the Griggs County FSA office for more information.

Farm Service Agency (FSA) is committed to providing our farm loan borrowers the tools necessary to be successful. FSA staff will provide guidance and counsel from the loan application process through the borrower’s graduation to commercial credit. While it is FSA’s commitment to advise borrowers as they identify goals and evaluate progress, it is crucial for borrowers to communicate with their farm loan staff when changes occur. It is the borrower’s responsibility to alert FSA to any of the following:
- Any proposed or significant changes in the farming operation
- Any significant changes to family income or expenses
- The development of problem situations
- Any losses or proposed significant changes in security
If a farm loan borrower can’t make payments to suppliers, other creditors, or FSA on time, contact your farm loan staff immediately to discuss loan servicing options.
For more information on FSA farm loan programs, contact your Traill County USDA Service Center at 701-436-5101 or visit fsa.usda.gov.
