USDA announced on January 5, 2021 that the Quality Loss Adjustment Program (QLA) will assist producers whose eligible crops suffered quality losses due to qualifying drought, excessive moisture, flooding, hurricanes, snowstorms, tornadoes, typhoons, volcanic activity, or wildfires occurring in calendar years 2018 and/or 2019.
Farm Service Agency will accept QLA applications from January 6 through March 5, 2021. To apply, producers must submit a completed program application along with supporting documentation.
The Agricultural & Food Policy Center (AFPC) at Texas A&M University has developed a tool for cotton producers to use for the QLA Program. This QLA Calculator for Cotton will help producers complete the form FSA-898 Quality Loss Adjustment Program Application. The calculator can be found at: https://afpc.tamu.edu. A video tutorial is also available on the AFPC website that provides instructions on using the tool.
For more information on the QLA Program, visit farmers.gov/quality-loss, or contact your local USDA Service Center. Producers can also obtain one-on-one support with applications by calling 877-508-8364.
