Produce safety regulatory standards are mandated under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The FSMA rules apply to foods in commercial farms, packing operations and food processing facilities. The law requires compliance with the production, harvest and handling of fruits and vegetables. The National Agricultural Library's Food Safety Research Information Office (FSRIO) helps you to stay up to date on research and information about produce safety, specifically the FSMA in the Food Safety Standards resources.

FSRIO also provides a Food Safety Research publication application that contains literature published in national and international peer-reviewed journals and often times, ahead of print! Explore more than 200 journals and search by journal title and/or subject to find more specific research on produce safety, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), and more.
