United States National Animal Health Reporting System 2022 Reportable Diseases, Infections, and Infestations List Now Available

The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service National List of Reportable Animal Diseases (NLRAD) 2022 United States National Animal Health Reporting System (NAHRS) Reportable Diseases, Infections, and Infestations List has been posted.

 NLRAD-NAHRS Current Reportable Disease List

 The list has been updated from the previous year; notable updates include:

Avian

  • World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH; formerly OIE) updated language to make Low Pathogenicity Avian Influenza viruses having proven natural transmission to humans associated with severe consequences notifiable in domestic and captive wild birds.

 

Aquaculture

  • Tilapia Lake Virus added under Notifiable for the United States.
  • Decapod Iridescent Virus 1 added under Notifiable – WOAH list update.

 

Honey Bees

  • Tropilaelaps infestation moved from Monitored to Notifiable in the United States.
  • Slow bee paralysis virus added under Monitored diseases for the United States.
  • Deformed Wing Virus, Variant C added under Monitored diseases for the United States.

 

Notifiable “Other” Diseases

  • Infection of dromedary camels with Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus added – WOAH list update.

 

Reporting diseases on the list is voluntary until the proposed NLRAD rule is passed. Once the rule has passed, an effective date will be announced. Further information on the NLRAD can be found by clicking here.
