October 2021 Report Highlights
As of October 31, 2021, Veterinary Services (VS) and its cooperators sampled 2,076 animals for scrapie testing in FY 2022; 1,982 at slaughter and 94 on-farm; 1,357 were sheep and 719 were goats.
Resources
To report a sheep or goat with clinical signs of scrapie, please contact your local VS office or State Veterinarian’s office. APHIS may pay indemnity for adult sheep or goats with neurological or other signs that are determined to be consistent with scrapie. Alternatively, an APHIS veterinarian could provide live animal scrapie testing for these animals.
