New Guides Offer Helpful Information on Caring for Animals
Animal Care is developing easy-to-understand informational guidance to help anyone who owns or cares for animals.
These one-page documents, called Animal Care Aids, cover a wide range of topics and species, including canine dental and coat care, primate environmental enhancement, bear care, and special environmental needs of semi-aquatic and flying mammals. Newly added Animal Care Aids include: Feeding Nondomestic Cats, Metabolic Bone Disease in Nondomestic Cats, and Tips and Calculations: Adding Calcium to Boneless Meat Diets for Nondomestic Cats. The Animal Care Aids are posted here.
Animal Care Aids are not regulatory requirements under the Animal Welfare Act. Rather, they provide information, tips and strategies that we hope will help individuals provide great care to their animals.
