USDA Animal Care has updated its introductory course for dog breeders to provide the latest information about licensing and regulatory requirements under the Animal Welfare Act.

The course, which we developed with the Center for Food Security and Public Health, describes the pre-licensing process for would-be USDA licensees, and it also offers best practices for dog care and husbandry to help current licensees successfully adhere to Animal Welfare Act standards and regulations.

Course updates include a presentation entitled “Socialization for Healthy Dogs” as well as new information reflecting the 2013 regulation that revised the Animal Welfare Act’s definition of retail pet store.

The course, which is available to all interested parties, is available here.

At USDA Animal Care, ensuring the welfare of the animals we regulate is at the heart of everything we do.
