2016 IPPC Photo Contest:  “The Shocking Impact of Pests”

The International Plant Protection Convention’s (IPPC) Capacity Development Committee is launching the 2016 IPPC photo contest with “The Shocking Impact of Pests” as its theme. The contest’s objective is to raise public awareness about the need to protect cultivated and wild plants by preventing the introduction and spread of pests, actions that underpin food security, safe trade and protection of the environment.

When the contest began last year, its winning photos attracted world-wide attention. Contest judges will include members of the IPPC, Food and Agriculture Organization, National Geographic Society, and social media voters. Three winners will receive photography training as their prizes.

The photos should illustrate the negative impacts caused by pests, or phytosanitary measures to counter these impacts. The deadline to submit photos is February 29. Find complete contest information at http://www.phytosanitary.info/2016-ippc-photo-contest-shocking-impacts-pests.
