Mango Seed Weevil Host List Expanded
USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) notified State Plant Regulatory Officials they will expand the list of countries whose mango (Mangifera indica) seeds and fruit are prohibited entry to the United States. This action is effective December 23, 2015 and will prevent the introduction and establishment of the mango seed weevil (Sternochetus mangiferae (Fabricius)).
APHIS will prohibit the importation of mango seeds and fruits from Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Saint Martin-Sint Maarten.
