This website brings together data from dozens of publicly available datasets to make it easy for food systems practitioners to search and visualize information about U.S. local and regional food systems. Recent updates to the Food and Agriculture Mapper and Explorer (FAME) data warehouse include new county level data sets and integration of the USDA Local Food Directories, which showcases locations of farmers markets, CSAs, local meat processors, and more. This data can be particularly useful when developing grant applications. |

The National Bison Association (NBA) acts as the national voice for the bison business in the United States. NBA represents bison producers and members from all 50 states in public policy and provides educations resources for those interested in entering and succeeding in the industry. In 2016, NBA received a Farmers Market Promotion Program grant for $218,373 to develop curriculum, workshops, and marketing materials to better support bison producers’ business needs. NBA was able to launch an app to connect consumers with producers, develop educational materials and events to promote bison, and plans on holding regional webinars targeted to the specific needs of producers in each area.
Unique ideas like bison education can be supported through FMPP and other LAMP funding opportunities! Learn more about how your business could be eligible for LAMP grants.
AMS Seeks Peer Reviewers for Grant Applications
The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is seeking subject matter experts to serve as peer reviewers to evaluate applications for the LAMP and other AMS grant programs for the FY25 grant cycle.

Current Programs Seeking Peer Reviewers:
|
AMS grant peer reviewers should have knowledge or experience in agricultural systems, including but not limited to marketing, processing, distribution, and/or local and regional food systems. Producers and those with first-hand experience in food and farm businesses are encouraged to participate.
Reviewing applications will take approximately six weeks. Reviewers evaluate applications assigned to them independently; they then come together with other panel members virtually, discuss their findings as a team and finalize reviews and scoring. Non-federal reviewers will be compensated for their reviews.
New reviewers can register and select the program(s) they are interested in through the GrantSolutions- Reviewer Recruitment Module (RRM). More information can be found on the How to Become an Application Reviewer and apply to be an AMS grant reviewer webpages. Reviewers already registered in RMM can update their profile with current information.
The AMS Grants Division works to improve domestic and international opportunities for U.S. growers and producers. AMS partners with a variety of organizations to support rural America and the nation’s agricultural sector. For additional information visit the AMS Grants & Opportunities webpage.
