TOBRFV RESISTANT TOMATO PLANT COMPRISING A MODIFIED CCA GENE

Abstract: The present invention relates to a modified CCA gene which encodes a CCA-adding enzyme, which modified CCA gene leads to resistance against a positive-strand RNA virus having a TLS, wherein the modified CCA gene comprises a gene comprising a nucleotide sequence that encodes a CCA-adding enzyme, a gene comprising a promoter sequence, or a gene comprising a nucleotide sequence that encodes a CCA-adding enzyme having a deletion, a substitution, or an insertion of at least one amino acid. The invention further relates to plants and seeds comprising the modified genes, methods for making and identifying such plants and use of the gene.

A method for identifying a modified CCA gene comprising: identifying a modification of an A to T SNP on position 948 of SEQ ID NO: 1; a C to T SNP on position 950 of SEQ ID NO: 1; an A to G SNP on position 1348 of SEQ ID NO: 1; an A to G SNP on position 1603 of SEQ ID NO: 1; an A to T SNP on position 1659 of SEQ ID NO: 1; a G to T SNP on position 1737 of SEQ ID NO: 1; a T to C SNP on position 631 of SEQ ID NO: 5; or identifying a deletion in SEQ ID NO: 3 comprising SEQ ID NO: 4; or identifying a modification on a corresponding position of a homologous sequence having at least 80% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO: 1 or SEQ ID NO: 3.
20. A method for selecting a ToBRFV resistant Solanum lycopersicum plant, comprising identifying the presence of a modification in a CCA gene, optionally testing the plant for ToBRFV resistance, and selecting the plant that comprises the modification as a ToBRFV resistant plant.

HYBRID CORN PLANT AND SEED R3214

Abstract: A novel hybrid corn plant, designated R3214 is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of hybrid corn R3214, to the plants and plant parts of hybrid corn R3214, and to methods for producing a corn plant by crossing the hybrid corn R3214 with itself or another corn plant. The invention further relates to methods for producing a corn plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic plants produced by that method and to methods for producing other hybrid corn plants derived from the hybrid corn plant R3214. The specialty hybrid R3214 provides a low amylose corn having distinct functionality compared to common waxy maize starch.

1. A seed of hybrid maize variety R3214, representative seed produced by crossing a first plant of variety V1005 with a second plant of variety W5379, wherein representative seed of the varieties V1005 and W5379 have been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers ______ and ______, respectively.

A seed of hybrid maize variety R3214 further comprising: a single locus conversion, wherein a plant grown from the seed comprises a trait conferred by the single locus conversion, and wherein the seed is produced by crossing a first plant of variety V1005 with a second plant of variety W5379, wherein the first plant, the second plant or both further comprise the single locus conversion, and wherein representative seed of the varieties V1005 and W5379 have been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers ______ and ______, respectively.
8. A method of introducing a heritable trait into hybrid corn variety R3214, the method comprising the steps of: (a) introducing at least said heritable trait into a first inbred corn variety V1005, a second inbred corn variety W5379, or both inbred corn varieties V1005 and W5379 to produce plants of said inbred corn varieties that heritably carry said heritable trait, wherein said heritable trait is introduced into said inbred corn varieties by backcrossing, wherein said backcrossing is sufficient to produce an inbred corn variety further comprising said heritable trait, and wherein representative seeds of said inbred corn varieties V1005 and W5379 are deposited under ATCC Accession Nos. ______ and ______, respectively; and (b) producing a plant of hybrid corn variety R3214 further comprising said heritable trait by crossing a plant of said first or said second inbred corn variety that heritably carries said heritable trait with a plant of a different inbred corn variety selected from a group consisting of inbred corn varieties V1005 and W5379 or crossing a plant of said first inbred corn variety and a plant of said second inbred corn variety that both heritably carry said heritable trait.

Abstract: A potato cultivar designated FL 2505 is disclosed.
