On Jan. 15, 2024, we observed the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Every year we pay tribute to his courage and sacrifice and this year it falls on his actual birthday. The national theme for the year was “It Starts with Me: Shifting the Cultural Climate Through the Study and Practice of Kingian Nonviolence.” MLK Day is the only federal holiday set aside as a National Day of Service and people are encouraged to celebrate by performing acts of kindness through service to others. USDA is dedicated to creating an environment that fosters diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility—and, above all, humility and respect.
