The USDA National Organic Program (NOP) oversees the dynamic, growing organic industry. This is the federal program that develops and enforces the organic standards to continually strengthen trust in the USDA organic seal, and has a big impact on farmers, businesses, and consumers.
We are hiring for Food Technologist(s) to join our Standards Division and support technical needs for the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), an advisory board to the NOP. This position is advertised as a Food Technologist at the GS-9 or GS-11 level and is open to qualified members of the public.
The selected candidate(s) will:
- Review and investigate materials and practices considered for use in organic production or handling.
- Assist the NOSB with developing written recommendations, responses to the NOP and responses to stakeholder correspondence.
- Assist with the evaluation of administrative programs, systems, methods and software.
- Develop internal guidelines on process improvements, prepare special reports, conduct administrative research and analysis, and analyze operational trends.
- Use a customer service approach to support internal and external stakeholders.
