USDA AMS Extends the Application Deadline for the Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA) Plus to May 12, 2023

The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service announced additional funding available for the Local Food Purchase Assistance Program (LFPA) in November 2022. The additional funding allows for up to $464 million in Commodity Credit Corporation funds to be utilized by the program.  Of this total, USDA is setting aside $100 million for Federally Recognized Tribal Governments. The resulting LFPA Plus is available for the expansion of existing agreements and allows new states, territories, and tribal governments who had not previously applied to participate in LFPA.

In order to allow all interested states, territories and federally recognized tribal governments ample time to apply, the LFPA Plus application deadline is extended from March 31, 2023 to May 12, 2023.  If you would like to learn more about this program contact LFPA@usda.gov or the USDA LFPA point of contact for your region.  Additional information is available at the LFPA Plus website
