4-H Day
USDA is excited to welcome 4-H to this week's Farmers Market. 4-H (Head, Heart, Hands, Health) is America's largest youth development organization and provides a focus on STEM, agriculture, healthy living, and civic engagement. 4-H programs are available in every county and parish in the United States through partnerships with more than 100 public universities. 4-H is able to make these nation-wide connections through the cooperative extension system at USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). 4-H's work is especially felt within USDA's Marketing and Regulatory Programs (MRP) as our very own Under Secretary, Jenny Lester Moffitt, is a 4-H alum, parent, and volunteer.
This week's USDA Farmers Market will feature 4-H representatives from:
- National 4-H Council
- Virginia 4-H Healthy Living Ambassadors
- The Montgomery County 4-H Seed & Harvest Club, University of Maryland Extension
- Maryland 4-H Office, University of Maryland Extension
- Center for Urban Agriculture & Gardening Education, Cooperative Extension Service, College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES), University of the District of Columbia
- Division of Youth and 4-H within the Institute of Youth, Family, and Community at USDA-NIFA
So come visit the market this Friday to learn more about 4-H and its work to empower nearly six million young people with the skills to lead for a lifetime. #Opportunity4All
