New Resources Available for USDA Foods Vendors – GS1 Global Data Synchronization Network (GS1 GDSN) Reporting for the USDA Foods Program
USDA has collaborated with GS1 US to provide a suite of training videos to assist USDA Foods vendors with reporting USDA Foods product information to GS1 Global Data Synchronization Network (GS1 GDSN). The new training videos are available through GS1 US University’s Learning Management System. GS1 US has created an exclusive training portal available only to USDA Foods vendors, which includes several videos that would normally require a registration fee, but are available to USDA Foods vendors at no cost. The videos include:
- An Introduction to GS1 Standards
- GS1 Standards in Foodservice
- Choosing a GDSN-Certified Data Pool
- GS1 Company Prefix, GTIN-12s, and UPC Barcodes
- Key Requirements for Submitting Product Information to GS1 GDSN for USDA Foods for the National School Lunch Program (coming soon – new video from GS1 US created exclusively for the USDA Foods Program)
Vendors who are interested in accessing the portal must contact USDA Agricultural Marketing Service at CPPNPDNutrition@usda.gov to obtain instructions for logging into the system.
