Virtual VegU
At the USDA Farmers market, we are known as the “living laboratory” for farmers markets across the country. During the market season, the VegU program highlights local agricultural products. The program’s main goal is educating the public on the best practices for growing, picking, preparing and storing the commodity. The program also emphasizes the health benefits from consuming the featured produce products. VegU hones the holistic connection between commodity education, eating habits and the importance of supporting local growers, producers, and ranchers.
During the transition to virtual work and learning spaces, VegU has managed to integrate its educational content to new platforms. The introductory video series “How to grow, pick, prepare and store” highlights selected commodities in short informational pieces.
