New Organic Oversight and
Enforcement Report

The National Organic Program (NOP) has released an update about our enforcement work: Organic Oversight and Enforcement Report.

The report includes a summary of investigations and compliance actions, an update on the work of the Organic Agricultural Product Imports Interagency Working Group, and an overview of organic import oversight.

As the organic community grows and supply chains become more complex, NOP continues to increase its oversight capacity to meet the evolving needs of the organic community and to protect farmers and consumers.

2019 Peer Review
Report and NOP Response

NOP also published the 2019 Peer Review Report and the program's response:
2019 ANSI Peer Review.

The annual peer review process evaluates the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s organic accreditation program against a set of objective criteria, and is conducted based on the Handbook document, Peer Review of National Organic Program Accreditation.

Independent external auditors determine if the NOP has followed its quality management procedures. The auditors compile results of the review and submit them in a report to the NOP. NOP develops action items that respond to peer review feedback as part of its continuous improvement work.
