Don't lose your "rind" because it's watermelon time! It's going to be a lovely, lively luau celebration at the USDA Farmers Market this week.
This is the first week of August and the last month of summer; so, to help you cool off, we will be having a tropical celebration featuring two rollicking rotund fruits---watermelon and pineapple! The market will sport a luau theme as several vendors will feature watermelon-themed menu items and VegU will be grilling up some sweet and spicy pineapples, as well as mixing up watermelon fresca drinks.
Once your thirst is quenched and taste buds are satisfied to take part in a watermelon eating contest and hula your heart out during the hula-hoop contest. Prizes will be given to the victors and leis will be handed out to all while supplies last!
If you're still needing to fill that sweet tooth then your ears will feast on the melodic sounds of returning local DMV vocalist Tommi performing in the Fresh This Week tent.
