Why do watermelons have fancy weddings? Because they cantaloupe! Roll on over to the USDA Farmers Market this Friday, August 3, during National Watermelon Day and celebrate the wonderful ways to enjoy watermelon with special guests, the Watermelon Queens!
While browsing or having lunch at the market, pick up a slice of
watermelon from one of several produce vendors and enjoy music from local
artist Emma G.
Visit the AMS Veg-U booth to learn how to showcase
watermelon in summer recipes, then compete for bragging rights in the seed spitting
and watermelon eating contests!

As always, fabulous vendors will be offering fresh produce, delicious food and artisan
goods. Stop by every Friday from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the corner of 12th Street and Independence Avenue.
