Only 30 Days Remain for You to Complete Your CHC Rechecks
Dear Grantees,
The National Service Criminal History Check (NSCHC) Exemption Period ends on June 30. As a reminder, CNCS will not take disallowance enforcement action against grant recipients for past non-compliant NSCHCs for eligible individuals if the grant recipient has done all of the following:
- Established accounts through CNCS-approved contracts with Truescreen and Fieldprint,
- Conducted a recheck no later than June 30, 2019 through these accounts on individuals who are serving or working in covered positions on or after November 15, 2018, and,
- Adjudicated their rechecks on or before June 30, 2019.
At the conclusion of the Exemption Period, CNCS will implement a new policy for NSCHC enforcement that will include a cost-based disallowance structure.
Grant recipients were offered additional funding to support Exemption Period rechecks. CNCS expects those that accepted this funding to use it for rechecks. If you have not already conducted or completed Exemption Period rechecks, you are running out of time. Checks must be complete and adjudicated by June 30, 2019.
Please ensure the rechecks you have conducted are compliant. The "Check Your Check" training in our CHC Video Library will help you review for common issues. In particular, remember to
- Adjudicate your checks
- Indicate that you have verified the government-issued ID
- Match the first and last name to the ID
- Order the correct state(s)
- Enter an accurate grant number
- Document resolution of any "Not Cleared" adjudication recommendation from Fieldprint
If you have conducted rechecks, please review the information associated with them (EIN, grant number, and organization name) for accuracy. Inaccurate information can make it difficult for us to match your rechecks to your CNCS grant. Corrections can be made by contacting CNCSHelp@truescreen.com.
