Today, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a State Health Official (SHO) Letter, “Transformed-Medicaid Statistical Information System (T-MSIS) Data Quality Compliance” to accelerate the improvement of T-MSIS data quality and further expand its programmatic and analytic use. The SHO: (1) identifies the method CMS will use to determine if a state is in compliance with statutory requirements to submit complete, accurate, and timely data; (2) provides the date by which states must retire older versions of the T-MSIS file submission layout and begin using T-MSIS file layout version 4; and (3) identifies the process for formal compliance actions when states are not meeting CMS T-MSIS submission requirements.
