On January 16, 2025, Minnesota submitted a request for a new 5 year demonstration to provide reentry services to people leaving carceral settings and expand both pre-release care planning and Medicaid eligibility and enrollment supports for people returning to the community from incarceration. The state aims to address three critical challenges: reducing post-release mortality rates, decreasing recidivism, and addressing the persistent health disparities that disproportionately impact formerly incarcerated populations. The federal public comment period will be open from January 31, 2025 through March 2, 2025.
