CMS Issues Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) Monitoring, Reporting, and Oversight: A Toolkit of States to Ensure Complete and Accurate MLR Reporting

Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) Monitoring, Reporting, and Oversight: A Toolkit for States to Ensure Complete and Accurate MLR Reporting to provide states with practical information to support their review, validation, and oversight of Medicaid managed care plans’ MLR reporting.

The toolkit provides states with resources to improve the completeness and accuracy of MLR reports received from managed care plans. It also includes recommendations for the collection, validation, and use of MLR data, guidance for key MLR policy areas, and state examples for creating an effective financial monitoring system.
