CMS Approves Amendment to Massachusetts's MassHealth Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Plan Section 1115 Demonstration

Today, CMS approved Massachusetts’s request to amend the MassHealth Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Plan Section 1115 Demonstration. This amendment will allow the Commonwealth to (1) provide additional health-related social needs services/infrastructure supports, (2) expand Marketplace subsidies to individuals with incomes above 300% of the federal poverty level (FPL) to 500% of the FPL and cost-sharing assistance by increasing the income standards consistent with the Medicare Savings Programs income limits, (3) provide limited coverage for a targeted set of services furnished to certain incarcerated individuals for up to 90 days immediately prior to the beneficiary’s expected date of release, and (4) expand continuous eligibility to 12 months for adults over age 19 and to 24 months to beneficiaries age 65 and over who are experiencing homelessness.

The extension amendment is effective April 19, 2024 through current demonstration expiration date of December 31, 2027. You can view today’s amendment approval, as well as other demonstration documents, in the demonstration’s administrative record
