Pennsylvania Medicaid Coverage Former Foster Care Youth From a Different State and SUD Demonstration

On March 29, 2022, Pennsylvania submitted its extension application requesting another 5 years. The state is proposing to continue the current demonstration that currently authorizes the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to provide Medicaid coverage to out-of-state former foster care youth under age 26 who were in foster care under the responsibility of another state when they turned 18 and are now applying for Medicaid in Pennsylvania. The renewal will also authorizes the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to continue to provide high quality, clinically appropriate SUD treatment services for short-term residents in residential and inpatient treatment settings that qualify as Institutions for Mental Diseases (IMD). The 30-day federal public comment period will be open from April 12, 2022 through May 12, 2022.
