On February 22, 2021, Texas submitted an amendment to the Texas Healthcare Transformation and Quality Improvement Program (THTQIP) section 1115(a) demonstration. The THTQIP demonstration provides benefits through the state’s Medicaid managed care and MLTSS programs – STAR, STAR+PLUS, STAR Kids, and Children’s Medicaid Dental Services. Acute care and long-term services (including home and community based services) are provided to older adults and adults with disabilities through the STAR+PLUS program. This amendment would provide benefits through the demonstration to medically fragile adults whose needs exceed existing cost limits. The federal public comment period will be open from April 2, 2021 through May 2, 2021.
