Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the groundbreaking Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Beneficiaries with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Report.

The SCD Report, a companion document to the previously released SCD Infographic, is the first-ever comprehensive national and state-level portrait of SCD that highlights various demographic and health characteristics as well as healthcare utilization patterns among adults and children enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP. Also, the SCD Report presents the first TAF-derived prevalence rates for antibiotic prophylaxis among children (ages 15 months to 4 years) enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP in 2017.
