CMS releases the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2019 Annual Medicaid Fee-For-Service (FFS) National and Individual State Drug Utilization Review (DUR) Reports and the Annual Managed Care Organization (MCO) National DUR Aggregate Report

Today, the Centers for Medicare &Medicaid Services (CMS) releases the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2019 Annual Medicaid Fee-For-Service (FFS) National and Individual State Drug Utilization Review (DUR) Reports and the Annual Managed Care Organization (MCO) National DUR Aggregate Report on Medicaid.gov.  These reports discuss:

  • The nature and scope of their prospective and retrospective DUR programs, including a summary of the interventions used in retrospective DUR;
  • An assessment of the education programs deployed;
  • A description of DUR Board activities;
  • An overall assessment of the DUR program's impact on quality of care; and
  • Cost savings generated from their DUR programs.

These reports show that all state FFS and MCO programs are actively participating in DUR activities that improve appropriate medication use and reduces the chance for adverse outcomes.
