Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a Informational Bulletin to remind states about current federal regulations and expectations for completing redeterminations of eligibility for Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries.

This bulletin will assist states in meeting their current obligations to make accurate and timely redeterminations of eligibility both during regular periodic renewals and when the state agency receives information indicating a change in a beneficiary’s circumstances that may impact eligibility.  In addition, this also serves as a resource for states that are returning eligibility and enrollment operations to their routine functioning after the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE).

As always, CMS is committed to working with our state partners to ensure timely redeterminations of eligibility, especially as states resolve backlogs of redeterminations that may have developed during the PHE.
