The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is taking decisive actions to protect the health and safety of our nation’s patients and providers in the wake of the 2019 Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. As previously noted, CMS has begun posting many of its stakeholder calls that it has held where the agency hears directly from providers, organizations, and states that are dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak on the ground. CMS has posted a recording of the March 17, 2020 “All-State” call that the agency held to provide updates and hear directly from state Medicaid and CHIP agencies.
Specifically, CMS shared information regarding a range of flexibilities available to states during this public health emergency. CMS also discussed Medicaid and CHIP section 1135 waivers, flexibilities for section 1915(c) Home and Community-Based Waivers utilizing Appendix K as well, and providing telehealth to beneficiaries receiving long-term services and supports. CMS also answered a wide range of states’ questions.
