Ohio requests a new 5-year section 1115 demonstration which seeks to modify the existing Medicaid expansion program to require beneficiaries in the new adult group to participate in work or community engagement as a requirement for continued Medicaid eligibility. To comply with the requirement, beneficiaries will need to demonstrate they work at least 20 hours a week or are engaged in other allowable activities. Failure to meet the requirements will result in termination of Medicaid benefits. The state is proposing a number of exemptions and exceptions. The federal public comment period will be open from May 15, 2018 through June 14, 2018.
