Auto Re-Enrolled Consumers Have Until January 16 to Change Their 2024 Coverage

Many consumers who were enrolled in the Marketplace for Plan Year 2023 and did not make an active Plan Year 2024 plan selection by December 15, 2023 were auto re-enrolled in coverage with an effective date of January 1, 2024. This information was visible on HealthCare.gov and on partner sites starting December 16, 2023.

Some of your clients may wish to explore other coverage options for Plan Year 2024 or change their plan selections for Plan Year 2024. Consumers who change plans or enroll in coverage between December 16, 2023 and January 16, 2024 will have an effective date of February 1, 2024. After January 16, consumers will only be able to enroll or change plans for Plan Year 2024 if a change in circumstance qualifies them for a Special Enrollment Period.

To ensure your clients have the best plan suited to their needs in 2024, you can assist them with updating their application and reviewing all available plan options for 2024.

You’re encouraged to work with your clients to make an active plan selection — and to confirm your National Producer Number (NPN) is part of their enrollment.
