Save Time This Open Enrollment with EDE!

Enhanced Direct Enrollment (EDE) offers a range of enrollment and client management capabilities to help you assist your clients year-round. Agents and brokers who used the new capabilities offered by EDE partners during plan year 2020 Open Enrollment (OE) assisted more consumers than their agent and broker colleagues who did not use EDE*.

While these capabilities may vary by partner, potential reasons to use an EDE partner include:

  1. Work remotely: EDE partners are required to support certain consumer scenarios directly on their websites. These capabilities allow you to make application updates for some, if not all your clients, directly from the EDE partner’s website without being redirected to HealthCare.gov. This can allow you to assist consumers remotely without the need to work side-by-side.
  2. Use an approved EDE partner’s platform for little or no cost. Many partners offer their EDE services at little or no cost to you as an agent or broker.
  3. Assist more consumers. During plan year 2020 Open Enrollment, agents and brokers reported earning more commissions when using an EDE pathway because they were able to assist a greater number of consumers*.
  4. Upload client documents and view their status. Approved EDE partners provide the ability to view the status of your clients’ data matching issues and special enrollment period verification issues, and allow you to upload supporting documentation to resolve these issues.
  5. Make binder payments through the pathway. Certain EDE partners allow your clients to make initial binder payments directly through their website.
  6. Download notices. You’ll be able to download your clients’ Marketplace notices, such as the Eligibility Determination Notice and Form 1095-A.
  7. Avoid being redirected. EDE partners are required to support certain consumer scenarios directly on their websites. This allows you to make application updates for some, if not all your clients, directly from the EDE partner’s website without being redirected to HealthCare.gov.
  8. EDE Partners are secure. Approved EDE partners must pass a rigorous CMS review process before being approved by CMS. This review process ensures that consumer information is safe and secure.
  9. EDE Partners are accurate. EDE partners must go through a thorough audit that ensures all information produced is accurate.
