Over the past 2 years, the PRAC and our members have issued 400+ oversight reports. In that time, we've learned a lot.
We've updated our foundational report Lessons Learned in Oversight of Pandemic Relief Funds with 5 new lessons:
6. Allocate funding based on need.
7. Newly created programs require more outreach.
8. Watchdogs need access to data to find fraud.
9. Collaboration is critical to oversee pandemic relief programs.
10. Better reporting is needed to track pandemic relief spending.
We originally published our Lessons Learned report in September 2021, promising to add to it as the work of the PRAC and our partners reveal more about pandemic oversight. This is our first update.
We will continue to share more as we learn more.
"The Need for Better Reporting" is one of our biggest Lessons Learned
But funding often goes through multiple layers, making it difficult to track. In our latest Data Story on prime and sub-recipient reporting data, we explain how federal dollars flow through the system to help you gain a better understanding of where it’s being spent.

Mark your calendars for our next event on Wednesday, June 15th
We're partnering with the National Academy for Public Administration to host a panel of experts to answer the question:
What's it Like Applying for Pandemic Relief Funds?
People put a lot of time and labor into filling out paperwork, submitting documentation, creating an online account, or waiting on hold to access financial support from the $5 trillion pandemic relief programs.
As federal, state and local agencies continue to distribute this money, our experts explore what we have learned about making it easier for people to apply to get benefits, and what challenges remain.
Join us on June 15, 2022 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm (ET)
This co-sponsored activity does not constitute or imply an endorsement of NAPA or any of its products or services by the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee, CIGIE, or the United States government.
