âť” Did You Know:Â In January 2024, the United States is expected to experience a birth every 9.0 seconds and one death every 9.5 seconds. Meanwhile, net international migration is expected to add one person to the U.S. population every 28.3 seconds. The combination of births, deaths and net international migration increases the U.S. population by one person every 24.2 seconds.
Conducting a census is an incredibly complex undertaking that takes years of planning, and we want to keep you informed on our progress and thinking along the way.
Here's what to expect as 2024 unfolds, including our strategies for preparing for the 2030 Census, updates on our first major field test, the release of the initial 2030 Census Operational Plan, and wrapping up the 2020 Census.
The Census Bureau released new First Look estimates from the 2022 Economic Census. The economic census is the U.S. government’s official 5-year measure of employer businesses in the United States. It provides the most comprehensive business and economic data available at the national, state and local levels – and serves as the benchmark for current economic measures, such as the Gross Domestic Product and Producer Price Index.
đź“Ś ICYMI:Â 2023 Annual Business Survey First Look
The Census Bureau released an infographic and preliminary data from the Annual Business Survey (ABS) covering data year 2022. The infographic shows the profitability of employer businesses by race. The preliminary data show the financing practices for employer firms by sex, ethnicity, race, minority and veteran status. Data in the infographic and tables are shown for the percentage of employer businesses in 2022.
âť“ Did You Know:Â The ABS is conducted jointly by the Census Bureau and the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES) within the National Science Foundation.
