Privately-owned housing starts in September 2023 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,358,000. This is 7.0 percent (+/- 15.8%)* above the revised August 2023 estimate of 1,269,000.

(*)The 90% confidence interval includes zero. The Census Bureau does not have sufficient statistical evidence to conclude that the actual change is different from zero.
