March 22, 2023: On Monday, April 3, the U.S. Census Bureau will release a suite of 2010 Census demonstration data products that incorporate the final production settings chosen for both the 2020 Census Redistricting Data (P.L. 94-171) Summary File and Demographic and Housing Characteristics File (DHC). We will conduct a webinar about the release on Thursday, April 6, 2023 (see log-in information below).
The April 3 release will include all files described in the January 27 newsletter, namely, new Privacy-Protected Microdata Files for persons and housing units for the United States and Puerto Rico that incorporate both the redistricting and DHC variables and Noisy Measurement Files for the Redistricting Data (P.L. 94-171) Summary File for persons and housing units for the United States and Puerto Rico, all based on the 2010 Census Edited File. We are targeting a June release for the DHC Noisy Measurement File.
Noisy measurements reflect the noise-infused data prior to post-processing, which corrects inconsistencies within and across tables. Researchers and data scientists can use the Noisy Measurement Files to independently process the files, complete analysis and conduct valuable assessments of the confidentiality protections.
Note that these products are for informational and research purposes only. The Census Bureau is not requesting feedback because the settings are already finalized; the redistricting data were released August 12, 2021, and DHC production is underway for release in May 2023.
