2017-2021 ACS 5-Year Products Data Release
On January 26, the U.S. Census Bureau will release the 2017-2021 ACS 5-year Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) files and 2017-2021 ACS 5-year Variance Replicate Estimates (VRE). PUMS files will be available through data.census.gov and the FTP site. VREs will be available on the census.gov website.
Updated Design and Methodology Report Posted
The Census Bureau recently released the 2022 ACS Design and Methodology Report. This document details the methods employed and latest developments in the ACS through 2019.
2023 ACS Questionnaires Now Available
The Census Bureau published the 2023 ACS questionnaires in PDF format on our website. Versions of the survey sent to both households and group quarters are available in English and Spanish. Sample forms of the Puerto Rico Community Survey (PRCS) are also available. You can access the 2023 ACS questionnaires and previous year questionnaires through the below link.
Disclosure Avoidance Protections Update
Donna Daily, Chief of the American Community Survey Office, recently published a blog post on the latest developments of the Census Bureau's disclosure avoidance protections.
New Statistical Testing Tool Resources
The Census Bureau published a new video and tutorial for our Statistical Testing Tool. These resources provide detailed steps on how to use the tool and how to determine if differences between ACS estimates are statistically significant.

Puerto Rico and the ACS Webinar
Learn more about the Puerto Rico Community Survey (PRCS) and data available for communities in Puerto Rico. This webinar provides an overview of the PRCS and will focus on the differences between the ACS and PRCS, explain the PRCS data collection process, and how to access PRCS data in data.census.gov. Additionally, we’ll cover resources for data users, including the PRCS handbook.

Call for Abstracts: 2023 ACS Data Users Conference
The 2023 ACS Data Users Conference will be held May 16–18, 2023. We are currently exploring options for a hybrid event that will include in-person, plenary sessions on May 16 in Washington, D.C. (also livestreamed) followed by virtual breakout sessions with remote attendees on May 17 and 18.
The conference will bring together ACS data users and U.S. Census Bureau staff to share information about key ACS data issues and applications. The conference will include:
- Contributed presentations by ACS data users
- Invited plenary sessions
- Breakout sessions
- Lightning sessions
Registration for the conference will be free for all participants.

Renters More Likely Than Homeowners to Spend More Than 30% of Income on Housing in Almost All Counties

Did you know that the ACS has an online Data Users Group with over 4,000 members? The purpose of the ACS Data Users Group is to improve understanding of the value and utility of ACS data, as well as promote information sharing among data users about key ACS data issues and applications.
The website contains information, such as previous conference presentations and archived webinars and the discussion forum allows members to share messages, materials, and announcements related to ACS. Census Bureau staff are also members and share program updates here.
Membership is free and open to all interested ACS data users.
