Armed Forces Day: May 21
The 2019 American Community Survey estimated the U.S. had 254.0 million people 18 years and over, and of those, 17.4 million, or 6.86 percent, were veterans.
National Police Week: May 15-21
In 2019, the Annual Survey of Public Employment and Payroll counted 906,037 full-time police employees in the U.S. with a monthly payroll of $5.98 billion.

National Waitstaff Day: May 21
The 2019 American Community Survey counted 2,167,363 waiters/waitresses ages 16 and over employed in the U.S. About 34.4% were full-time and 69.2% were female.

National Maritime Day: May 22
The 2020 County Business Patterns counted 140,169 employees in ship and boat building, 102,084 in support activities, and 66,998 in marine cargo handling.

National Bike Month: May
In 2019, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated that 805,722 workers in the U.S. bicycled to work, down from about 865,000 in 2012, and up from 665,000 in 2007.

Older Americans Month: May
The 2019 American Community Survey estimated there were 54,074,028 people aged 65 and over in the U.S. out of a total population of 328,239,523, or 16.5%.

World Trade Month: May
On April 5, 2022, the FT900 reported the goods and services deficit was $89.2B in February, down less than $0.1B from $89.2B in January, revised.
