Based on responses collected April 4 through April 10, 2022, the Small Business Pulse Survey estimates that:

  • 40.4% of U.S. small businesses experienced a large increase in prices they pay for goods and services compared to six months ago. For responses collected 3/28-4/3, it was 39.3%

Comparing now to six months ago, how have the prices this business pays for goods and services changed?
  • 25.5% of U.S. wholesale trade small businesses expect to improve methods of logistics, delivery, or distribution in the next six months. For responses collected 3/28-4/3, it was 21.6%
  • 68.9% of U.S. manufacturing small businesses experienced domestic supplier delays in the last week. For responses collected 3/28-4/3, it was 73.0%
  • 59.9% of U.S. accommodation and food services small businesses had difficulties hiring paid employees in the last week. For responses collected 3/28-4/3, it was 58.3%
  • 30.6% of U.S. small businesses experienced a moderate increase in demand for their goods or services compared to six months ago. For responses collected 3/28-4/3, it was 29.7%

Phase 3.4 of the Household Pulse Survey is underway. Phase 3.4 includes a new question on receipt/intention to receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster; modifications to questions relating to children’s vaccinations that expand response options to include children’s age categories; modified reference periods for school enrollment and spending questions; removal of an educational catch-up question; and a reinstated question related to distance learning. The first data were released on March 23 and will continue to be released monthly until May 18, 2022.
