Reminder: March 22 Webinar on DHC Demonstration Data

March 9, 2022: Join us March 22 at 3 p.m. ET for a webinar to learn more about new 2010 demonstration data for the Demographic and Housing Characteristics File (DHC).

In the coming months, the Census Bureau plans to release two iterative rounds of 2010 DHC demonstration data with accompanying comment periods. Unlike the demonstration data released in October 2019 and May 2020, these new release rounds include the full set of proposed 2020 Census DHC tables, not just a subset of tables.

The first round will be split into two parts – “person” and “housing” tables. Person tables are expected to be released on March 16 and include sex, age, Hispanic origin, race, relationship to householder, and group quarters characteristics data. Shortly after, we expect to release household tables, which include tenure, vacancy, household type, family type, and characteristics of the householder. See the March 2 newsletter for more information.

Webinar topics include:

  • A brief overview of materials included in the release.
  • Improvements made to the 2020 Disclosure Avoidance System (DAS) since release of the previous 2010 DHC demonstration data in May 2020.
  • A summary of issues we have identified and are working to address.
  • Guidance on the type of feedback requested that will help us refine the DAS. You’ll have at least 30 days to evaluate and provide feedback on both the person and household tables.

We encourage all data users to evaluate the new DHC demonstration data and provide feedback.

  • Date: Tuesday, March 22
  • Time: 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET

About Disclosure Avoidance Modernization

The Census Bureau is modernizing the protections that safeguard 2020 Census responses against emerging confidentiality threats. We rely on data user analysis and feedback to help us develop statistical products that are relevant and statistically accurate yet comply with our confidentiality obligations. This involves making data-driven decisions about the scope and precision of the census data we publicly release. We encourage you to visit our Disclosure Avoidance Modernization website to learn more.
