Statistics in Schools brings subjects to life using real-world Census Bureau data to create materials for use year after year at all grade levels.

Make Your Dreams Come True Day – January 13

Dreams Come True Day

On this day, inspire your students to act on making their goals and dreams come true. Ask elementary school students what kind of house they want to live in and encourage them to imagine what that looks like—the number of floors, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Census Bureau statistics show there were 54 million U.S. homes with three bedrooms and close to 36 million with two bedrooms in 2019. With our My Dream Home activity, students collect, analyze, interpret, and compare housing characteristics data, then they identify and use two-dimensional shapes such as triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes to construct their dream house.
