New to Statistics in Schools: Kahoot! Games!

Kahoot!

Get ready to play and learn with new Statistics in Schools (SIS) Kahoot! games. SIS has teamed with Kahoot! to bring educational games powered by census data to your classroom. Test your students’ knowledge on a variety of census facts from the number of toy and game stores around the country to how many places in the U.S. are named after Old St. Nick himself.

This release includes the first four of seven games planned and are themed around census history, U.S. holidays and data visualizations. See who takes the first-place trophy!

Here’s a preview of currently available games:

  • Learn About U.S. Holidays With Census Bureau Data! Do you know how many hobby, toy, and game stores there are in the U.S. or which two states have the most chocolate makers? Get into the holiday spirit year-round with this Kahoot that ties U.S. Census Bureau statistics to holidays celebrated across the U.S.
  • Visualizing Census Bureau Data: “A picture is worth a thousand words,” and it’s also a great tool for understanding complex datasets. Try your luck at identifying demographic and socioeconomic trends found in U.S. Census Bureau statistics. This game reveals the quiz answers alongside charts, graphs, and maps to help you visualize the big picture. Perhaps you’ll spot other trends, outliers, and patterns in the data.
  • How Well Do You Know the U.S. Census Bureau? (Elementary version and middle/high school version). The U.S. Census Bureau provides facts and figures about America’s people, places, and economy. Have fun playing this game and learn why the Census Bureau’s mission matters!
