Honoring the Day 39 Delegates

Signed the U.S. Constitution

Constitution Day

Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. Do you know how the census relates to the Constitution and why it’s important? Well, let us tell you how! The Constitution mandates that a count of the U.S. population be conducted every 10 years. The census helps determine how federal funds will be distributed for critical public services like education, hospitals and emergency response services, and determines each state’s share of the 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives for the next 10 years. Use SIS activities and resources to celebrate Constitution Day with your students and learn more about census data related to this observance.
