It’s hard to believe that we are in the final month of 2020. Our country has faced many different challenges this year, but we can all focus on setting positive goals to help make 2021 bright and successful. On behalf of Statistics in Schools, we want to wish you a safe and happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year!

SIS Kickoff Event

Check out the Response Rate Map to see how your community made an impact. Students can have fun comparing their county’s response rates with other nearby counties. For a historical perspective, take a look at the 230 Years and Counting infographic and compare how much has changed since the first census was conducted in 1790.

The Census Bureau is required by law to deliver apportionment counts to the President by December 31, 2020. Share our Amazing Apportionment Machine video with your students to show how the apportionment formula is used to ensure equal representation for all.

Chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, or sugar—which cookie is your favorite? Celebrate National Cookie Day with your students by conducting a survey amongst your students. Once the results are in, create a pie chart to show off the most popular treat!
