Retiring American FactFinder
The U.S. Census Bureau has retired American FactFinder (AFF), its statistics and information search engine after 20 years. AFF will remain as an archive system for data and functionality that are not yet available in data.census.gov until March 30, 2020.
After March 30, 2020, American FactFinder will be decommissioned and no longer available.
Users can access Census Bureau data at data.census.gov, including the 2018 1-Year American Community Survey and 2017 Economic Census.
Data.census.gov represents a new chapter in the Census Bureau’s dissemination approach by centralizing data access and allowing for a more rapid response to customers.
- Powered by the same API as that used by external users (api.census.gov/data), downloaded tables for any given view now contain the variable IDs needed to make calls to the API that powers the view
- The address bar for any given view/table within data.census.gov contains metadata that can help developers formulate their own calls to the API. For example this call contains: https://data.census.gov/cedsci/table?q=poverty&table=S1701&tid=ACSST1Y2018.S1701&t=Poverty&hidePreview=false&vintage=2018
- Deeplinks of both charts and maps are now built-in (for easy sharing)
- For simple data access, just download a .csv flat file of any table in view.
